FTP, which is short for File Transfer Protocol, is one of the most commonly used methods for transmitting web files between a computer and a server. Using FTP software like FileZilla, you can set up a connection to your hosting account and drag & drop files or whole folders in both directions and the software will deal with all the rest. There’re several advantages of using File Transfer Protocol, including the possibility to restart an upload/download in case there’s some problem with the FTP connection or the ability to create different FTP accounts. With the latter option, you can set up FTP users that can access only specific folders in your hosting account, but no other folders, emails or other information, which makes it the ideal option particularly in case you have to give a web designer access, for example. You can also use an FTP account with popular applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and upload the websites that you have created straight from them, without the need to use any 3rd-party software.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting

Setting up and administering multiple FTP accounts will be astonishingly easy with any of our cloud hosting. This functionality is not restricted, so with our user-friendly Hepsia Control Panel, you will be able to set up as many accounts as you need to, in order to manage your sites and to get your website-related tasks done. In case you hire a developer and they’re done with the website, for example, you can edit the FTP password or remove the entire FTP account with just one mouse click from the Control Panel. For convenience’s sake, you will be able to see a list of all the FTP accounts that you’ve set up and the directories that they can access. Handy functions such as editing the access path or the password and downloading an auto-configuration file for commonly used FTP client programs are also just a click away.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your Internet sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a different FTP account for any of them, since we haven’t put a limit on this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated server packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-navigate Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, together with the folder that each one of them can access. If needed, you’ll be able to change the password for a certain account or to update its access path with a couple of mouse clicks. You can also remove an account without any effort if you don’t require it anymore – for instance, if you’ve hired a web designer who’s finished with the site and you do not want them to connect to your website files anymore. For your convenience, we’ve selected different how-to videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without any effort if you have never used a hosting plan before.

FTP Accounts in VPS

None of the Linux VPS that we’re offering includes a cap on the number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any given time, so you can create a separate FTP account for any site hosted on your server, no matter if it is under a domain or subdomain. Moreover, it does not matter which Control Panel you will choose when you order – DirectAdmin, cPanel or Hepsia, as an FTP server will be set up on the VPS at the time of the configuration of any of them. If you want a number of persons to be able to make a connection to the same directory with their very own log-in details, for example, it’ll take several clicks of the mouse to set up an FTP account for each of them. Deleting an existing account or modifying the directory that it can access is just as simple and you won’t come across any impediment, even if you lack previous experience in such matters.
